Following is more detailed information on some of the specialised treatments offered.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage provides a healing treatment which can treat ailments of the musculoskeletal system.  The treatment can help restore function to injured “soft tissues” (muscles, tendons and ligaments).

The benefits of remedial massage include:

  • stimulation of the blood supply to enable toxins in the muscles to be removed
  • toning and relaxing the muscles to improve joint mobility
  • calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort

Relaxation Massage

A relaxation massage is a smooth flowing style of massage that promotes general relaxation, improves circulation and range of movement, and relieves muscular tension.  It is a caring and safe form of touch that provides many benefits.

Relaxation massage can:

  • relax tight muscles, assist toning and flexibility of muscles, and ease muscular pain
  • improve posture of the skeletal system by relaxing tight muscles that have pulled bones out of alignment
  • assist deeper and more relaxed breathing, increasing the oxygen supply to the body
  • improve digestion, reduce gastric discomfort and constipation
  • assist emotionally by creating a sense of being nurtured and cared for
  • clear the mind of stressful thoughts
  • increase vitality and energy

Lymphatic Massage

The nourishing and internal cleansing of our bodies relies on two systems of circulation – blood and lymph.  The lymph system is responsible for the removal of wastes and debris from our body.  Whilst the heart circulates blood, lymph does not have the same automatic assistance.  The circulation of lymph relies on movement and the assistance of gravity.  Where there is restricted movement or inactivity, lymph circulation can become impaired.  Even in a normally “active” person, the lymphatic system can become sluggish due to the workload it is responsible for.

A lymphatic massage increases lymph circulation through the body’s natural filtration system by up to 25 times its normal rate, thereby detoxifying the body and supporting its health and the immune system.

Conditions that respond favourably to lymphatic massage include:

  • cellulite
  • fluid retention
  • depressed immune system – frequent colds and flu
  • digestive disorders such as constipation
  • weight loss – in conjunction with exercise and a balance diet
  • emotional stress and depression

Lymphatic massage is also of assistance where the body is undergoing a detoxification program. The massage is a series of directional segmented and gentle movements of light pressure.  The massage acts on the lymph vessels which are just under the skin.

Lymphatic massage is of most benefit to the body where you program a weekly treatment for the first month, fortnightly for the next two months followed by a monthly maintenance massage.

Cranial (Head) Massage

Cranial Massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissues of the neck, shoulder, and head.  These are the areas where tension is particularly prone to accumulate.  The massage works with a firm rhythm to unknot blockages and relieve the uncomfortable build up of muscular tension.  It relaxes the scalp, tones the subcutaneous muscles, and stimulates scalp blood circulations.  Massage to the face is very soothing, increases lymphatic drainage and removes toxins.

Cranial Massage can assist

  • sinus congestion
  • earache
  • jaw and teeth discomfort
  • eye strain
  • head cold symptoms
  • anxiety & stress
  • tension headaches
  • mental tiredness

Cranial massage treatment can be included as part of your back or fully body massage, or as a separate treatment.
